Personal
My Focus?
What I feel is what you’ll see…
I want to share with the world what I am experiencing with every blink of an eye and express visually how I feel or felt about these particular encounters… Next to this for me personally Photography is also a way to freeze awareness and trigger introspection. It also enables me to confront some very specific moments or experiences sensed at a certain point in my personal little world.
One of the most speaking examples is the series about “burnout“. At the time (2013) after having experienced a severe burnout I really ‘had’ the need to express this somehow. The series not only remind me of a period where I had to make some hard decisions but also how I came out of that situation much stronger, not only as a person but also as a photographer.
Another good example is the series about “Emptiness“, where I’ve made a promise to expose these series at the 5th anniversary of my mothers’ passing away…
Next to this… my only purpose in “freezing time & history” is to try to translate the feeling I had, relive it, and share it with the wide public… knowing most of them have already experienced this before and some could find a familiar feeling…
Anyways, photography can grab hold of you, consume you, but it are the wonders it brings for the people around you, and ultimately yourself, that will matter.
